At The BGG, we know it is important to share the stories of women of color in politics from all walks of life. That is why we are excited to have Colorado State Representative Leslie Herod as one of our contributors.
As the first openly LGBTQIA+ Black woman to be elected in Colorado, she is a trailblazer. From standing up for homeless youth to advocating for women to have access to tampons in prison, Rep. Herod takes on the issues that impact people at the everyday level.
5280 Magazine recently featured Rep. Herod. The article covers her journey as a food-insecure college student to how she is working to transform the criminal justice system.
